I've enjoyed the classes I've taken at Joy of Motion. Also recommended would be the DC Dance Collective. The Dance Institute of Washington and Sitar Arts Center also have adult classes.

i also used to take at Joy of Motion in Dupont. I stopped going as it was too serious (I was taking intermediate ballet) and I switched (I lived in Arlington at the time) to Arlington Center for Dance (which is now BalletNova). One of my former jazz teachers now teaches at DC Dance Collective - they seem to have an assortment of classes.

I've been a big fan of the ballet classes at the Dance Institute of Washington, in Columbia Heights: http://www.danceinstitute.org/ Their fall classes start in September, but the schedule isn't up yet. I think they have modern, and maybe jazz too.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (www.chaw.org) has ballet, jazz, and tap on Mondays. I enjoy the ballet, and the tap class is popular.
There is also Biker Barre in Capitol Hill that has barre classes, but I haven't tried them.
I hear good things about Dance Place, Joy of Motion, and Maryland Youth Ballet (they have adult classes)
