  • Clothing alterations in Dupont/Logan Circle

    17thster

    Hello POPers,
Anyone have recommendations for a place near Dupont/Logan that does a good job on alterations for women's clothing? I used to go to Kim's Cleaners on 17th between U and T, but I haven't seen the same couple in the store. I see on yelp people like Dupont Cleaners on R at 16th. Thank you for your help!  More»

  • Sweet Cat (Stray) in Bloomingdale

    pancakepopple

This extrordinarily sweet calico has come around to our house two times on an alley off of Randolph Pl NW in Washington DC. She is small, potentially young, and a big sweetheart. I gave her some food tonight, but if anyone has any details on her or has seen her around let us know. I would love for someone to take her in or report her whereabouts.  More»

  • Random Question - "He stole my phone"

    pixelww

Random question but I just saw a women running south, down the middle of 14th Street from the corner of 14th and Irving. I was too far away to see much beyond her, but I could hear her yelling: "he stole my phone, he stole my phone!" She was booking it and then I saw a security guard and someone else give chase, then a few minutes later heard police cars/sirens screeching in the background.
I am sure running down the middle of the street and also chasing a thief will be debated as to smart/not smart, but my question is - does anyone know how it ended?...  More»

  • Have You Seen My Cat?

    lookingfordean

My AC contractors left the door open for hours (ignoring the signs on the door saying to keep the door closed because of the cats), and Dean escaped. He is one year old, gray tabby (gray fur with white stripes) and small. He is shy around strangers and isn't wearing a collar.
Last seen around 14th and Decatur.
If you have any information, please call 300-900-2036.
    Thanks so much.  More»

  • Recycling Pick Up & Cardboard boxes

    nshedrick

We recently moved and have had many cardboard boxes going in and out of the house. Our trash/recycling is picked up in the front of the house (instead of the alley) and they pick up everything except the cardboard boxes!!!! The boxes are always collapsed and flat. I've had to call every single time to schedule a missed pick up and it's pretty annoying because they aren't picked up even when it's re-scheduled. The only way we get the boxes picked up is by tearing the boxes into smaller pieces to stuff in a garbage bag - which defeats the purpose of re...  More»

Cut or tear the boxes into smaller pieces and place them in the recycling bin. You can also drop off recycling at the Fort Totten transfer station. See More »

  • Landlord/Tenant Attorney Recommendation

    awsunder

I am working on behalf of my neighbors (longtime Petworth residents) to find an experinced attorney who specializes in landlord/tenant cases. They are facing eviction at the end of the month and are in desperate need of representation. They have received very positive feedback from the various free DC tenant advocacy groups. Unfortunately, they were unable to get representation via DC Lagal Aid. They are of limited means; however, depending on the strenth of their case, I would be willing to cover the necessary legal costs.

Georgetown University has a legal clinic/resource center that may be able to at least point them in the right direction. Catholic Charities, and other faith communities, have resources as well. • Thrift Shop Pickup?

    allgoodinthehood

Is there any charity/thrift shop/etc that will pick up donations? I know most will if it's furniture, but I've just got a ton of clothes and household items (yay spring cleaning). I don't have a car, so I'll need someone to pick up all the stuff. Growing up, Amvets would always drop bags off and pick them up full of donations, but I don't know of anything in the District like that.  More»

  • Legal advice for long time Petworth residents

    awsunder

I am attempting to help my neighbors seek legal help as they deal with a family dispute over a property. Here's the gist:
The property originally belonged to the wife's father, who inexplicably willed his entire estate to the youngest of his five children (the wife's younger brother) under what appear to be somewhat dubious circumstances shortly before his death in '98. Since that time, my neighbors have been living in the home and fully maintaining the property. There was never any written lease or contact between my neighbors and the brother. In f...  More»

  • Where to sell jewelry [more diamonelle, not diamond[

    pixelww

Hi there - I am doing some early spring cleaning and have pulled a few bracelets, necklaces, and earrings - things that I don't wear anymore. Nothing super high end- more Macy's, Propper Topper, local vendor type items. Can anyone recommend where I should sell them? Consignment store or website options [not craigslist] would be appreciated.

  • Highland Park nails in tires

Any other residents had nails in their tires recently? I just had two nails that cost me a pretty penny in tires. I'm pretty sure it's due to the construction and I wanted to get an idea if there were a lot of us.
