Has anyone seen the wallaby at the National Zoo?
In four years of going to the Smithsonian National Zoo I've never seen it. Anyone ever seen it (and if so, when)? Its enclosure is right on Olmstead Walk, off Connecticut Ave past the cheetahs. Always seems empty. More»

I saw it once, a few weeks ago. I think the deal here is that the space is really large and full of trees and bushes but the animal is really small and inclined to hide under things. I spotted the wallaby under a bush in the center of the space. See More » -
Where can I get a keg in the NE?
My birthday is this weekend and we are throwing a party at the house. I live in Trinidad and I'm having trouble finding anyone reasonably close that sells kegs? I would prefer not to drive to Tenley Georgetown. Anyone have any suggestions? More»

They sell kegs at Cairo Wine and Liquor on 17th Street & Corcoran, near Dupont Circle. It's not in NE, but it's certainly closer than G'town.

Not near Petworth, but Remington's at 6th & Penn SE has karaoke upstairs Weds-Sat. There's also a place in Adams Morgan on 18th that does Korean-style (private rooms) karaoke. See More » -

Where can I buy a hard plastic swimming pool?

I got a hard plastic one for my dogs at the Alexandria Lowes (not in DC, obvi) a couple weekends ago, but Home Depot may have them. If it is just for your dog, I've gotten by before with a hard plastic liner for backyard ponds, you can get them most garden stores. See More » -

Venue for A Cappella Concert?
My awesome DC-based all female professional a cappella group usually has our summer concert at the Warehouse Theater, but because the new Beach Bar will be taking over the parking lot, the Warehouse will be out of use for the summer.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a venue that is affordable and preferably bar-adjacent and metro accessible? I went to a concert for a new small opera company at the Casa Italiana over by Judiciary Square the other night. They have a little coffee bar set up too (they also served chianti that night). I have no idea how the arrangements are made but it might be worth checking out. Good luck! See More » -

Recommendations for night life activities for couple in their mid-50s

My friend's parents (mid-50s, foodies, intelligent, etc) are coming to DC for 2 nights in April and are requesting recommendations on nice restaurants and clubs (like Jazz, etc) that would provide a fun night life for them. I've got the restaurant recommendations down, but I'm struggling with where to direct them to go for "night life". My parents are a bit older (mid-60s) and don't really like to go out when they visit, and my idea of night life is hanging out at home. No joke.

Low-key bachelorette party suggestions?

Does anybody have any brilliant suggestions for a non-debaucherous, co-ed, early-summer bachelorette party in DC? It would be the night before the wedding festivities start, hence the requested lack of debauchery (and hangovers). I'd been thinking of trying to rent a hotel suite somewhere that has good food and cocktails, but most of the places I'm thinking of are pretty expensive, and we don't actually need a place to stay; still, just "going out" for the evening doesn't seem quite special enough.
