  • Undercharged by Comcast - Now They Want Their $$ Back

    diploj

Back in February, Comcast made an error on my bill and undercharged me. It wasn't insignificant - the total probably got me a couple free months of cable/internet. When I initially brought it to their attention, they didn't realize the mistake and stuck by the error (to my benefit). But now Comcast has discovered the long buried billing mistake and is basically saying I need to pay up -- for something that happened montsh ago. I'm of the opinion that this was Comcast's mistake and is therefore not my problem, but Comcast's, so I shouldn't owe them an...  More»

If you have a valid contract with them that says you will pay X dollars per month, then I'm guessing you owe them that much even if they mistakenly billed you for a different amount. If they billed you *too much* and you didn't notice for a few months, would you just let it go? See More »

  • How on earth does Bobby Lew's stay in business?

    truna

Dear PoP - I'm genuinely curious as to how on earth Bobby Lew's stays in business when there's almost never a single person inside - I live around the corner and walk by at least twice a day, every day! I personally never go b/c it's a crappy, boring sports bar that belongs in the Ballston Mall - it doesn't reflect the taste of the neighborhood or an urban center. Once in a blue moon there's a group of khakis and sweater sets singing along with some awful wanna-be guitarist - but that can't possibly enough to pay the bills! WTF?!  More»

  • looking for subfloor contractor w/ rowouse experience

    NNE, DC

Need to replace subfloor and some of the joists in part of my house. Talked to 3 contractors already, and every one has suggested a different hacked together solution to the rotted joists sitting in masonry pockets.

  • Why does DC have TERRIBLE sushi?

    guylogan

Admittedly I have come from Los Angeles California to DC. DC has quite the culinary scene, however all of the sushi places have the same menu and hence the same problems. Why is there almost no creativity in the design of sushi in this city. Every place has the same crappy 'spicy crunchy tuna rolls' and other small assorted weak rolls like that.
Where I come from sushi rolls look like the attached photo...They are fresh, and generous with the portions of fish. They make great combinations, like Spicy Tuna and Albacore, or California Rolls covered in a l...  More»

I think the problem here is that photo. Where's the fish? All I see is a pile of slop smothering fish. It's sushi for people who hate the taste of sushi. I guess this is a Cali thing, but you're not going to find fist-sized hunks of fish smothered in a bunch of glop in DC. See More »

  • Duo dry cleaners on 14th

    stdubb

I recently had a bad experience with Duo dry cleaners on 14th and its owner Sasha. I purchased a new tuxedo shirt (that wasn't cheap) for inauguration and brought it to Duo to be dry cleaned. It was to be ready the same day. I went in the following morning to pick it up in time to wear to weekend festivities. Sasha, the owner, searched the racks for the shirt but said he couldn't find it and would call me to let me know the status as soon as he figured out what happened. By end of day, the only explanation he had was that it was given to someone else and...  More»

    anibani

We are getting ready to sell our house in Takoma DC and are wondering about using an agent from Redfin as our broker.

Considering the low inventory and houses selling really fast, the usual 6% seems like a whole lot of moula for just a week or two worth of work.

  • Looking for a good autobody repair shop...that won't cost an arm and a leg

    kimimary

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good, reliable and reasonably priced autobody shop? City living has brought a few dings and dents to my car...nothing major at all, but something I'd be interested to see how much it would cost to repair. Without any idea of how much such repairs cost, I'm worried that I'll get screwed. Has anyone worked with a good shop with reasonable prices? Thanks!  More»

  • Leather tailor/leather alterations

    littlewing

Hey all, I'm looking for a leather tailor that can take in the waist of a custom-made leather jacket. The jacket came from Europe, so it's going to be cheaper to get the alterations done here than ship it out again. I don't care about price or neighborhood as long as they are tested/reputable. I think as far as leather alterations go this is pretty straightforward, so hopefully someone out there knows a place! Thanks in advance!  More»

I needed to repair a leather jacket we purchased in Italy. We found the perfect guy for the job at Philip's Shoe Repair, across the street from Domku.
