  • Anyone know anything about RegRose Plaza near the zoo?

I saw a posting on Craigslist for an apartment in this building, but couldn't find any reviews online. Seems like an older building, which is fine, but wanted to know if anyone knew anything about it.  More»

  • Patio materials storage

    Guest

I'm getting a patio put down in my backyard. I'm payin for the materials, and getting the labor seperate.
The problem is my backyard is not level with the alley, and materials company cant deliver it directly into backyard.
Does anybody know if i keep the materials in the alley behind my house for about a week, while they finish patio?
    Couple points about alley
    1. Trash pickup is in front of house not alley.
    2. I would not be blocking anybody from getting in and out of their parking space.
    3. There are two entrances to the alley.  More»

  • hotels with nice outside pools for weekend getaway

    Guest

I'm totally exhausted and am looking for 2-3 nights away from DC in mid-May. I want to sit by a pool and drink gin and tonics and that's just about all I want to do . Delaware looks nice but don't see any resort type hotels with pools. Ocean City and Virginia Beach would be ok - but everything seems kid centric. Are there any recommendations for great hotel pools that don't cater to kids / families? West Coast I'd be thinking Palm Springs, Huntington Beach or even Vegas - I just don't know what to do (short of flying out west...)  More»

  • Landlord/Tenant Attorney Recommendation

    Guest

I am working on behalf of my neighbors (longtime Petworth residents) to find an experinced attorney who specializes in landlord/tenant cases. They are facing eviction at the end of the month and are in desperate need of representation. They have received very positive feedback from the various free DC tenant advocacy groups. Unfortunately, they were unable to get representation via DC Lagal Aid. They are of limited means; however, depending on the strenth of their case, I would be willing to cover the necessary legal costs.

  • Concerned with BZA loosely approving high density zoning adjustments to permit 4 unit condo in R4, single family neighborhood

    Guest

    Dear Neighbors,

I thought that some of you might be interested to hear that the guardians of zoning rules have abrogated their duty to protect the community in order to benefit one of their own, the former Chairman of the BZA Board. The case (#18448) concerns an investor who applied for an adjustment to build four condo units in a row house normally limited to two units in an R4 area. He wants to accomplish this by popping the roof of the two story townhouse, which sits in a row of two story townhom...  More»

  • Building at N. Cap & R St NW

    Guest

Hi! I lived on the block of 100 R St for many years before moving out of the neighborhood. I dreamed back then of opening a deli/bakery in the old cleaners at the corner of N. Cap & R St NW. Does anyone know who owns it? I can't believe it's still sitting empty and would be interested to inquire into the property.

    Thanks!

  • Custom bed frames and/or where to do DIY projects?

    willylomangetsdown

I am moving to DC this summer, and I fully expect the following two things: 1) living (happily) in a small condo/apartment and 2) to try to get creative in how I put together my new place. Despite my limited experience, I am very interested in do it yourself type projects because I think they will be fun and rewarding (and frustrating), and having custom furniture is probably the best way to go when choosing to live in a small area. Here's the problem though: how the hell do you complete DIY projects when you have limited space? Are there garages you can...  More»

  • Adding front basement entrance in Mt. Pleasant historic district

    Guest

I understand that it is theorically possible to add a front basement entrance to a house in the Mt. Pleasant historic district. Indeed, there are even guidelines posted on this website: http://www.historicmtp.citymax...br />Does anyone know if in reality it is possible to get these approved?

  • Lawyer for buying a house in private sale?

    Guest

Does anyone have a recommendation for a lawyer for a private sale of a house in DC? Or other guidance on going through a purchase without agents on either side? We're the buyers -- would the sellers need their own lawyer? And any ballpark on a price for this?

  • Ideas for moving on the cheap

    Guest

I'm moving to Pennsylvania in June and trying to figure out the cheapest and easiest way to move a relatively small amount of stuff, most of which is going into storage for a few months. I was thinking of renting a cargo trailer or even buying something to sell after the summer that would let me load over a couple of days. Something like PODS (who I have called, and who told me it'd be less expensive to ship my small amount of stuff than get their container, so that's another thought).
I'll have a couch, small ikea dresser, bed (not even sure if I'll ha...  More»

  • Lost black and white pit bull. Please help!

    Guest

    If seen please call 562-650-7085

We are offering a reward to anyone who helps us bring home my 10-year-old female pit bull mix that went missing on March 19th. She answers to Rio.

She went missing from the 13th and U street area and has been seen multiple times near Howard University on Georgia avenue. She was very new to the area when she went missing and is likely hiding from people. If you see her, don't chase her. She'll probably run. At this point she could be near Howard or even in Rock Creek park looking for water.

  • Recommendations for Wallpaper Hanger

    Guest

I have a small wallpaper job (one wall in a bathroom) but I've heard horror stories about the difficulty of hanging wallpaper so I'd love to hire someone to do that. Anyone know of someone who hangs wallpaper and would be willing to squeeze in this little job between others, perhaps? I live in the Columbia Heights/Petworth area. Thanks!  More»
